Frequently Asked Questions

Does The Slushie Co. supply chocolate fountain machines?

Yes — The Slushie Co. supplies commercial chocolate fountain machines for hire and purchase across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane/Gold Coast, and Adelaide. Our fountains are ideal for weddings, birthday parties, corporate events, school functions, and hospitality venues. Commercial machines cascade a continuous flow of melted chocolate, giving guests an interactive and memorable experience.

Can I hire a chocolate fountain for my event?

Yes — chocolate fountain hire is available across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane/Gold Coast, and Adelaide, subject to availability. Hire packages include the fountain machine, fountain-grade chocolate, skewers, dipping items (marshmallows, strawberries, biscuits), delivery, setup, and collection. Contact your nearest branch at least 2 weeks before your event to confirm availability.

What type of chocolate should I use?

Commercial chocolate fountains require fountain-grade chocolate — specifically formulated with higher cocoa butter content for smooth, continuous flow without blockages. Do not use standard supermarket chocolate, as its viscosity is typically too thick and will clog the fountain mechanism. The Slushie Co. can recommend or supply the correct fountain-grade chocolate for your machine when you enquire.

Can the fountain be used with caramel or white chocolate?

Yes — many commercial fountain machines can run other liquid coatings including white chocolate and caramel, provided the viscosity is suitable. White chocolate works well in most commercial fountains. Caramel can be used but may require a slightly higher operating temperature. Always confirm with The Slushie Co. before your event to ensure compatibility with your specific machine.

Is a chocolate fountain suitable for outdoor events?

Chocolate fountains are best suited to sheltered indoor or covered outdoor settings. Wind causes chocolate spray and hygiene issues. Dust and insects are also a concern outdoors. If your event is outdoors, a marquee or covered area is strongly recommended. On very cold days (below 15°C), maintain the ambient temperature around the fountain to prevent chocolate from setting too quickly.

How much chocolate do I need for a fountain?

A commercial chocolate fountain typically requires 3–5 kg of fountain-grade chocolate to start. Plan for approximately 100–150g of chocolate per guest for a 2-hour event (accounting for dipping and re-dipping). For a 50-person event, have at least 7–8 kg on hand. The Slushie Co. can supply fountain-grade chocolate — ask when you enquire.

How long does a chocolate fountain run continuously?

Commercial chocolate fountains are designed to run continuously for the duration of your event — typically 3–8 hours. As the chocolate level drops, simply add more pre-melted fountain chocolate to maintain flow. Never leave the fountain unattended when running, and keep a thermometer nearby to monitor the chocolate temperature (ideally 45–50°C).

What dipping items work best with a chocolate fountain?

The most popular dipping items for chocolate fountains include fresh strawberries, marshmallows, banana slices, pineapple chunks, pretzel sticks, shortbread fingers, and profiteroles. Avoid watery fruits (e.g. watermelon, grapes) as excess moisture can seize the chocolate. The Slushie Co. can advise on dipping platters to complement your hire package.

How much does chocolate fountain hire cost?

Chocolate fountain hire pricing varies by machine size, chocolate type, and event duration. Contact your nearest Slushie Co. branch — Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane/Gold Coast, or Adelaide — for a quote tailored to your guest numbers and requirements.
